Are You Responsible?

You are responsible for your problems and the way you view them. It might not necessarily be your fault, though it could be entirely or partially, but you are still responsible for them and how you let them affect you.

For instance, if you have a pushy or rude horse, it may be your fault. You may have spoiled it rotten since it was a baby and not taught it good manners. That is your fault. Or, you may have acquired a horse that was already pushy and rude and that is not your fault. Either way though, it is still your responsibility to decide how you will take care of the problem.

You can decide to pretend there isn’t a problem and to just manage the best you can to work around and deal with it, or you can decide that the pushy rudeness needs to go and learn how to do the hard work to fix it. Either way, your responsibility.

Say you had a wreck on a horse, you’re now nervous and don’t feel comfortable riding. The fault of the wreck may be yours, it may be that the horse wasn’t trained to your level, it could be a combination of issues that place the fault in multiple places. However, once again, what you decide to do with your nervousness is entirely your responsibility.

You may choose to continue being nervous and fearful, and by the way that’s totally your right to do so if that’s what you decide. You could also decide you’re going to go find a coach that yells at you to get over it and cowboy up, or, you can go find a good coach that focuses on brain based education that’s positive, kind and empathetic but also tells you the truth so you can work through it together.

No matter which route you choose, it’s your responsibility how you handle the problems you face in this life.
